MASTERPOINTS MASTERPOINTS MASTERPOINTS

What the heck are masterpoints?

Masterpoints are awarded as recognition for achievement at duplicate sanctioned games. There are different colors of points depending on the level of play, the number of people playing, and the type of game (club, sectional, regional etc) won by the recipient. These masterpoints are recorded and stored at the ACBL headquarters. Once a club is sanctioned, there are requirements as to the number of players and number of boards played before it can issue masterpoints to the winners.

AMERICAN CONTRACT BRIDGE LEAGUE SANCTION

We have now received our sanction from the ACBL to hold games and award masterpoints. As soon as we have a game that meets their requirements, we will be awarding masterpoints to the winners. Something to look forward too!

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

More Good News! We have a commitment from the Chula Vista Recreation Department to let us hold a game at the Montevalle Recreation Center on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays. They are charging a modest fee (I thought that was what our taxes paid for :-(). Directions are posted on the home page map icon here . The game start will be posted on the calendar when the specific dates and times are resolved. This game is in addition to the Wednesday night BEGINNER classes being held at the Eastlake Beach Club.

LONG TERM PLAN

It is my goal to have a good bridge game available to accomodate those persons who have children in school or retired people who like to spend the evenings at home with their non-playing mates.

It is also my goal to have the same game availability for those people who are working and can not play in the daytime. To this end, I've started the lessons in the evening and have now got a daytime game scheduled to start on Tuesdays or Wednesdays sometime in August (after my vacation). The lessons we are currently holding in the evening are developing some real good players for our evening game.

VACATION VACATION VACATION

Finally I'm posting my own vacation! I will be in Yosemite during the July 20th lesson and in Canada during the first week of August. There will be no lesson for those weeks. July vacation is posted on the calendar and the August calendar will be up soon.

The first workshop will be held within the next few weeks as we are close to our minimum requirement. I will be contacting those interested through email or phone.

BIDDING - FORCING AND INVITATIONAL HANDS

Last week we went over how to bid different strength hands. We had several people away and others with family and grandchildren visiting. It was a good opportunity to review the last few lessons for those who missed the last couple weeks.

Hope to see you all on Wednesday.

Remember: Take all your tricks (and some of theirs).
